A border bill cheat sheet

Filed under: Border Security,Congress and HLS — by Christian Beckner on December 7, 2005

In previous posts I’ve alluded to a “bill-writing frenzy” on border security issues in the Congress right now. In an attempt to wrap my head around all of this activity on the Hill, I just put together the following “cheat sheet” which includes most of the key border security bills that have been introduced in Congress in the last six months. This list doesn’t include every border and immigration bill that has been released, and there are likely more to come, as Sen. Frist indicated this week.

Click on the chart for a larger view:

The interpretation of each bill in the chart is a bit subjective as a matter of necessity; I couldn’t plot out all of each bill’s intricacies in a 10-20 word summary. Also, for a more detailed chart on some earlier border security bills, see here.
