A bioterrorism preparedness report card

Filed under: Biosecurity,Preparedness and Response — by Christian Beckner on December 8, 2005

The Trust for America’s Health released its third annual report on public health and bioterror preparedness in the United States on Tuesday.

Their net grade for federal preparedness for bioterrorism? A D+. Worrying, given that many of these same preparedness measures are also necessary to prevent and control avian flu.

The report also contains state-by-state preparedness grades…interesting to see the wide variance in states’ preparedness, given the fact that nearly all states were at the same low level of preparedness four years ago.

You can download the full report here.
