Border surveillance IG report now posted

Filed under: Border Security,Technology for HLS — by Christian Beckner on December 20, 2005

The DHS Inspector General report on remote surveillance technology along land borders – discussed in this post last week – has now been posted on the OIG’s website. The direct link is here.

The report is consistent from a policy standpoint with the OIG’s testimony before Congress last week about this, and does not really expand upon these issues above and beyond this testimony. But its description of how the current border surveillance system works – the details of how the sensors and cameras are integrated together – is the most detailed and comprehensive that I’ve seen in the public record.
