Below is a list of homeland security policy events in the DC area next week. I post a list each week and will sometimes update mid-week when I find new items. 2/13: Senate HSGAC hearing on “Hurricane Katrina: Waste, Fraud, and Abuse Worsen the Disaster.” Dirksen 342, 10am.
2/13: Sen. Jon Kyl speaks at CSIS on “The NSA Surveillance Program: An Indispensible Tool for Protecting America.” 1800 K St NW, 12 noon.
2/13: National Infrastructure Advisory Council (NIAC) meeting. National Press Club Ballroom, 529 14th St. NW, 1:30pm.
2/14: Senate HSGAC hearing on “Hurricane Katrina: The Homeland Security Department’s Preparation and Response” featuring testimony by Sec. Chertoff. Dirksen 342, 10am.
2/15-2/17: Conference on Critical Infrastructure Resilience. Keynote speakers include Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS) and DHS Asst. Secretary Robert Stephan. Washington Convention Center.
2/15: House Science Committee hearing on “An Overview of the Federal R&D Budget for FY 2007” features testimony by DHS Undersecretary Charles McQueary. 2318 Rayburn, 10am.
2/15: House Homeland Security Committee hearing on “The State of Interoperable Communications: Perspectives from the Field.” 311 Cannon, 10am.
2/15: Heritage Foundation event to analyze the 2006 Quadrennial Defense Review. 213 Mass Ave NE, 10am.
2/15: House Appropriations Committee hearing on DHS Management and Operations. 2359 Rayburn, 2pm.
2/15: House Homeland Security Committee hearing on the FY 2007 budget for the DHS Office of Intelligence and Analysis. 311 Cannon, 2pm.
2/15: AEI event on “Airport Security: Time for a New Model.” 1150 17th St NW, 2pm. (Ed. note: here is my review of the report that is being discussed at the event).
2/15: House Homeland Security Committee hearing on “Coast Guard Programs Impacting Maritime Border Security.” 311 Cannon, 5pm.
