Below is a list of homeland security policy events in the DC area next week. I post a list each week and will sometimes update mid-week when I find new items. You can always find current and previous postings under the “Events” category tab at right. And please note that many events require prior invitations and/or RSVPs.

With Congress in recess next week, it’s a shorter list than the last few weeks.

2/20: ACLU town hall meeting on “Our Freedom at Risk: Spying, Secrecy and Presidential Powers.” GWU’s Jack Morton Auditorium, 805 21st St NW, 11am.
2/21: Brookings Institution event on rebuilding in Louisiana with Federal Coordinator Gulf Coast Rebuilding Don Powell. 1775 Mass Ave NW, 9:30am.
2/21: Women in International Trade discussion on the Customs Trade Partnership against Terrorism with C-TPAT program manager Eleanor Thornton. 1301 K St, 12 noon.
2/22-2/23: AFCEA Homeland Security Conference 2006 on “Homeland Security 2.0: Building Resilient Communities.” Speakers include DHS Undersecretaries Janet Hale and George Foresman. Reagan Building, 1300 Pennsylvania Ave NW.
2/22: Railroad Safety Advisory Committee meeting. Mostly safety focused, but includes a brief rail security update. Washington Plaza Hotel, 10 Thomas Circle, NW, 9:30am.
2/23: Heritage Foundation event with Brig. Gen Mark Kimmitt on “Winning the Long War against Terrorism.” 214 Mass Ave NE, 11am.
2/23: National Press Club event with DHS Asst. Secretary for International Affairs Cresencio Arcos on “The Role of Immigration and Border Control in U.S. National Security.”

(Please e-mail me if you have suggestions about additions to this list for this week, or future weeks).
