New CRS reports on immigration issues

Filed under: Border Security — by Christian Beckner on April 12, 2006

Amid the current legislative melee over immigration and border security, the Congressional Research Service has released two excellent new reports on the subject:

RL33319: Toward More Effective Immigration Policies: Selected Organizational Issues, March 17, 2006

RL33351: Immigration Enforcement Within the United States, April 6, 2006

The first report provides a solid assessment of the current organizational structure for immigration and border security issues across the federal government. And the second report takes a close look at one of the most difficult challenges in the immigration and border security system: the enforcement of immigration laws inside the United States. Collectively, the two reports are must-reads for anyone who is involved or interested in the current legislative debate over immigration and border security.
