DOD releases 9/11 crash tape

Filed under: Terrorist Threats & Attacks — by Christian Beckner on May 16, 2006

The Department of Defense released the surveillance footage of the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon today, in response to a subpoena from Judicial Watch. The release had been delayed until after the conclusion of the Zacarias Moussaoui, which I don’t really understand, since I can’t see how this footage would prejudice a northern Virginia jury any more than the general experience of living in northern Virginia in the aftermath of 9/11. But I’m glad that this is now out; it’s painful to watch even in its blurry abstraction, but it’s a necessary reminder of the threats and challenges that we still face.
