On this date in 1945 an atomic bomb exploded over Nagasaki, immediately killing 39,000 residents of the Japanese city.  On this date in 1971 British forces initiated Operation Demetrius involving the mass arrest and internment of suspected Irish Republican paramilitary personnel.  Riots and significant displacements resulted.  On this date in 2006 several arrests were made in the United Kingdom alleging a plot to bomb at least seven trans-Atlantic flights.

Have you seen NOAA’s 08 August 2013 Atlantic Hurricane Season Outlook update?

See http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/outlooks/hurricane.shtml

Good news (maybe?)

On July 1, 2013 FEMA released the Hurricane Sandy AAR and in May, NYC released its own Sandy AAR

See https://www.llis.dhs.gov/sites/default/files/Sandy%20FEMA%20AAR.pdf
and http://www.nyc.gov/html/recovery/downloads/pdf/sandy_aar_5.2.13.pdf

The recent IC threat warnings notwithstanding, the outlook might provide decision advantage to HLS decision makers in the region. To be sure, HLS resources have been allocated and deployed to counter the terrorist threat.

Tempered by Sandy, the 2013 hurricane assessment might assuage our concerns. Still, what if? What decisions are being made today?

DHS spends $6.7 mln for DHS video? Com’on..let’s get serious for we look lime a bunch of buffoons…Get a Life! We have some serious consequences from a divisive and perverse administration who obviously could give a damn about ‘ol Glory and assuring that the White House Doors remain Open to the select Obama guest list in rappers and entertainers in self-serrving agenda while our Kids who deserve better and should be encouraged to see the richness of our American history!

Hold barry Obama and Ms. Hillary under House arrest in suspicion of breach of trust, treason for their shoulder to shoulder blatant lies and deceit knowingly and willingly leaving our brave Patriots behind at the “Benghazi Massacre” – Open our embassies and promote America for We have been the beacon of hope for so, so many oppressed and with a spiraling $6.1 trillion budget deficit increase since ’08, let’s get a grip on the reality of an ever imposing government, government employees from top down taking advantage of public service and abusing the “entrusting” support of those of us who have seen a willingness of an individual to serve the public not to support self-agenda….

I remind all of the words of Frederick Douglass who best describes this divisive barry Obama and his agencies and affiliations including DHS which continues to see an undisciplined and bureaucratic, political charade continue! How dare you spend $6.7 mln dollars on a video?

“Find out just what People will submit to, and you have found the exact amount of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them; and these will continue until they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those who they oppress”-

Let’s get past this color of a man’s skin and the Clinton’s and the Bush family and bring serious minded individuals who lust Not for such power for self-serving benefit, but to truly represent our beloved Republic! It is time for the constituent to become more knowledgeable and educated about the issues at hand whether locally, state wide and nationally and to become more cognizant of those professing empty slogans only to promote divisive and perverse intent….contrary to our Constitution and our Judeo-Christian way of Life and willing to assure that existing laws are enforced….

$6.7 mln for a DHS video? …and our adversaries. those who seek our demise are to consider us a worthy opponent….no wonder the “KGB Putinites” consider Barry Obama anything but the Chicago city street slicker he is and Putin goes fishing for they too have read the words of Samuel Adams (1775):

“No People will tamely surrender their Liberties, nor can they be easily subdued, when knowledge is wide spread and Virtue is preserved. On the Contrary, when People are unwisely ignorant, and debauched in their manners, they will sink under their own weight without Aid of foreign invaders” –

Open the White House Doors – Our Kids Deserve better and open the embassy doors and protect and stand steadfast in portraying a nation which at least in the past has been compassionate to the oppressed in far distant shore, however now impose an every burdensome government on the populace intentionally “enslaving” the many and far too much which discourages productive achievement….

Did you ever wonder about FEMA payouts for some disasters? Remember that many disasters are NOT closed out for over a decade.

Seldom is there any adjustment to the 1970 value of the dollar. Why is this important? Disaster outlay figures are highly inflated since 1970 and the value of a dollar in 1970 is now about $.03!

I hope all understand the FED’s quantitative easing programs continue to devalue the US dollar.

IN the Nixon Administration the dollar was devalued about 40% and would be interesting to see how each administration since while advocating a strong dollar has continued its devaluation.

So here is a single recommended reform of disaster outlays [not a new recommendation for me]! NO FEDERAL DOLLARS SHOULD EVER BE SPENT ON RESTORING PRIVATE BEACHES.

And as to the NFIP [National Flood Insurance Program] if it excluded installed or uninstalled carpet from coverage under the single family policy its outlays to date would have been reduced by 20-25%!

Two reforms and probably worth a lot more than $.02!

Using the late on a summer Friday PM ploy the Administration has released a white paper on surveillance compliance with Constitution and statute!

It focuses on all private conversations on any phone system becoming a “business record” of the phone provider. Who knew?

I’m a few days late, but to connect the anniversary of the Nagasaki bombing with Phil’s “abundance of caution” post from the day before, see Alex Wellerstein’s post at his “Nuclear Secrecy” blog:

He tackles the issue of why Nagasaki was bombed – not the particular city, but the very dropping of a second atomic bomb. And one of the theories involves a heavy dose of an abundance of caution.
