Ha! Ha! My main reason for opposing this nomination is based on Mr. Johnson’s prior federal service. It has all been either in the DoD or law enforcement culture and not sure whether his AUSA time was civil issues or criminal.
One of the main factors now preventing DHS from performing its key assigned missions is the complete importation of the waste, fraud, and abuse of that culture from DoD!

Mr. Johnson has supported that DoD culture during his entire time in DoD!

Ha-Ha 2.0. HLS satire Munich appeasement to Armageddon et al.

BLUF: Johnson’s likely confirmation affirms 2010 National Security Strategy argument [mandate] that HLS is about national security.

One of the problems with DHS and its predecessor FEMA has been too much DOD influence.

IMHO, HLS is a national effort (as in federal, state, local governments & tribal and public-private sector.

“O what happened to Thad?”

Competent officialdom knows that DHS after 3 leaders that had no read feel for Washington and its problems probably could not be enticed to deal with a difficult confirmation and to face a Republican Senate in 2015!

President Obama continues to staff DHS with inappropriate appointments. ONE EXAMPLE! A retired Coast Guard Admiral now runs FEMA’s Response and Recovery.

In case no one has heard this before the Coast Guard in published reports and depositions under oath has admitted blowing the BP GOM response.
